Children enrolled in Early Childhood Education programs have access to a library specially designed for early readers between 3 and 6 years of age. These titles are accompanied by audiobooks that encourage children to play with sounds and challenge them to think about the way writing is formulated.
Our Elementary School library was curated to meet the needs of five different levels of reading proficiency, offering fiction and nonfiction books across more than 20 textual genres written by hundreds of authors. After reading, students are able to challenge themselves with reading comprehension games while teachers track learning outcomes through reading reports. The platform also offers special features as follows: students can record their reading, answer writing prompts, therefore making this experience even more interactive and playful while respecting different paces of learning.
In addition to a collection that includes more than 500 works of literature organized by genre, Elefante Letrado's Middle School Reading Platform offers a multimodal library that includes short texts (classical tales, short stories, comics, interviews, etc.) that can be read and analyzed. Suggestions of didactic sequences to teachers are a part of the content that is available. Students are also provided with a reading portfolio allowing them to record their impressions of their readings. Student development, monitored through their responses to different challenges, is tracked through reports provided to the teacher and feedback given to students.
One of the clearest indicators of how much a reader is able to grasp the overall meaning of a text is the speed at which they are able to read orally. Elefante Letrado has developed an innovative READING FLUENCY TEST, which is guided by the latest findings regarding the use of artificial intelligence applied to education. The members of Elefante's Research & Development Center - researchers in the field of teaching reading, teachers, senior developers and researchers specializing in artificial intelligence - have developed conditions for the verbalization of texts, recording and processing of audio of each student reading. Results indicate the reader's level of fluency and whether these indicators are basic, sufficient or advanced in relation to expectations for their educational level.
In addition to featuring libraries organized by the level of textual complexity of the books, teachers have access to more than 48,000 other titles. This allows them to include books of their choice in their students' literary journey. The possibility of selecting supplementary texts aims to meet the expectations outlined in each school's Reading Plan, offering flexibility and customization in the work of different teachers.
